Play to the Crowd launches!

On Thursday 12 September we formerly launched Play to the Crowd with a special reception held in Theatre Royal Winchester's newly refurbished foyer for our investors, supporters, donors, press and colleagues from the arts industry.

Chief Executive, Deryck Newland, spoke about our branding journey, thanking all those who had been involved - particularly Winchester-based agency Marmalade on Toast who helped with the renaming process and design of the visual identities, 1721, who helped to implement the brand, and digital agency Un.titled who developed our new website solution. Deryck also gave brief insight into our future plans and our commitment that the arts should be fun, playful and accessible to everyone.

Theatre maker David Glass continued, speaking about the importance of the arts and thanked Play to the Crowd for co-commissioning his adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Bleak House.

Guests were also treated to a viewing of a new sculpture, especially created for the Theatre Royal Winchester's Cafe Bar by Nadine Collinson, called Trilogy – which represents the three strands of the charity’s work.

Brasserie Blanc kindly donated canapes.
